Albania seduces with its exceptional geographical diversity: within a few kilometres, you pass from the turquoise beaches of the Ionian coast to the snow-capped peaks of the Albanian Alps. This small Balkan country, long closed to tourism, today reveals a natural and cultural heritage of surprising richness. Between UNESCO-listed sites, preserved national parks and authentic mountain villages, Albania offers a unique adventure travel experience in Europe.
The country’s strategic position, between the Adriatic Sea and mountains, makes it an ideal destination for combining water and land activities. Hiking enthusiasts will appreciate the trails of the Accursed Mountains (Bjeshkët e Nemuna), while cyclists will be able to follow the Albanian Riviera to the borders of Montenegro.
Our guided trek in Albania takes you to discover the striking contrasts of the country, between sea and Mediterranean mountains. Accompanied by a French-speaking expert guide of the region, you explore the must-see sites with complete peace of mind: Theth national park, Lake Koman, Dhermi coast and traditional villages of the Albanian Alps.
Albania is particularly well suited to cycling travel, with its panoramic coastal roads and preserved valleys. Our Albania cycling tour combines the major UNESCO World Heritage sites with the most spectacular natural landscapes. For a freer approach, choose our self-guided UNESCO discovery.
The Albanian Riviera extends for more than 400 kilometres along the Adriatic and Ionian coasts, offering unspoiled beaches with crystalline waters. The coastal villages of Dhermi, Himara and Saranda are privileged stops for discovering the Albanian Mediterranean way of life.
The Albanian Alps, peaking at more than 2 600 mmetres, are home to Theth national park and its exceptional alpine landscapes. This preserved mountainous region offers spectacular hikes between glacial lakes, beech forests and traditional villages with stone houses. Our selection of Albania’s most beautiful landscapes details the trek from Theth to Valbona, as well as the crossing of Lake Koman by ferry.
The capital Tirana and historic sites such as Berat (the city of a thousand windows) and Gjirokastër testify to Albanian cultural wealth, a blend of Ottoman, Byzantine and Mediterranean influences.
Albania shares a natural border with Montenegro, allowing you to extend your discovery of the Balkans. Lake Skadar, the largest lake in the Balkans, and Kotor Bay offer complementary landscapes for a complete approach to this little-known European region.
The best period runs from April to October. Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) offer ideal conditions for hiking and cycling, with mild temperatures and lush nature. Summer is perfect for combining land activities and relaxation on the coast.
For a first discovery, choose our guided trips which guarantee you an expert approach to the country. Experienced travellers will appreciate our at your own pace options to explore Albania at their own pace. — Beautiful scenery, but the route had a lot of traffic in some places; some of the hotels were very, very run-down and uncomfortable. Even though it was a self-guided tour, we were still tied to a group!

— This cycling trip to Albania will remain an unforgettable experience for me. From the very first day, I was impressed by the quality of the organization: everything ran smoothly and was perfectly orchestrated, enabling us, as an international group (various nationalities: USA/Italy/Denmark/UK/Germany…), to make the most of each stage without worrying about logistics. Our guide Dytran was exceptional, attentive, caring and passionate about his country, which made our stay even more lively and enriching. Our driver, Tani, was also exceptional in his presence and professionalism, always “a step ahead” to take care of us. The itinerary was simply splendid: pedaling along Lake Ohrid, crossing grandiose mountain landscapes, stopping off in friendly villages, discovering Gjirokastër and its incredible citadel, visiting the ancient site of Butrint or skirting the Albanian Riviera facing the turquoise sea… Each day offered us new emotions and breathtaking panoramas. Beyond the landscapes, it's also the shared moments that will stay with me: the convivial meals, the swims at the end of the days, the discussions as we cycled and the great cohesion of the group. This trip combined sport, culture, nature and human encounters in perfect harmony. I'd recommend this trip without the slightest hesitation to anyone wishing to discover Albania in a different way: by bike, at the rhythm of its roads, close to its people and its hidden treasures.
