Away from the bustle of its larger sister islands, Menorca, designated a biosphere reserve, retains its unspoilt, authentic character. This 8-day trip off the coast of Spain invites you to explore this jewel of the Balearic Islands along its coastal trails and traditional paths, immersing yourself in its contrasting landscapes.

Your self-guided itinerary takes you from the rocky north to the sandy south of this Spanish island. In the north, the rugged terrain and wild coves of s’Albufera d’Es Grau Natural Park reveal an almost lunar landscape, where Favaritx lighthouse stands proudly. In the south, the atmosphere changes completely: pine woods, turquoise waters and fine sandy beaches form a string of idyllic coves such as Cala Macarella, Son Saura and Cala Mitjana.

Each stage of this trip reveals the treasures of abundant nature and a heritage stretching back thousands of years. You will follow trails lined with “parets seques”, the island’s distinctive dry-stone walls, explore the mysterious caves of Es Coloms, or observe endemic wildlife and plants among wild dune systems.

Designed for those who enjoy relaxed walking, this trip to Menorca is ideal for walkers. Daily distances are manageable, the famous Camí de Cavalls is reliably waymarked, and accommodation selected for its comfort provides a well-earned rest after each day’s walk.

For hiking

  • Waterproof hiking boots with ankle support, a supportive heel counter and soles with good grip

  • A fleece
  • Comfortable walking trousers (quick-drying technical fabric)- Shorts, T-shirts and technical underwear (quick-drying fabric)
  • A long-sleeved shirt (quick-drying technical fabric)
  • Walking poles (telescopic), very important for making walking easier

Please note: synthetic technical clothing performs very well. New merino wool clothing is also available; it performs very well, is comfortable to wear and has the advantage of resisting sweat odours! (Brands include Icebreaker, Ruka, etc.).

As a general rule, avoid cotton, which makes you cold when wet.

For protection from sun and rain

This list is a guide and should be adapted to suit the season.

  • A bag for luggage transfers: a backpack, a travel bag in good condition or a suitcase that is not too bulky. One bag per person, limited to 20kg

There is no time difference between France and Menorca.

Menorca, the smallest island in the Balearic archipelago, lies north of Mallorca and does not attract the same tourist crowds as Ibiza. Yet it is a perfect destination for anyone seeking peace and quiet. Its Mediterranean climate brings almost perfect weather throughout the four seasons of the year. Summers are hot and dry, while winters are mild and pleasant. In spring, the days have a gentle warmth. Autumn, with its lovely sunshine and pleasant temperatures, is ideal for extending a holiday in the sun.

A few words about Menorca
Declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1993, the second-largest Balearic island stands out distinctly from its neighbours.

Swept by the Tramontana wind, Menorca unfolds in gently rolling landscapes of red or ochre earth, criss-crossed by rocky paths tucked between thousands of kilometres of dry-stone walls. Many lead to picture-postcard beaches nestled in coves lapped by clear green waters, or to prehistoric sites with colossal stones that have withstood the passage of time… More than the other islands, Menorca preserves an impressive collection of Talayotic sites dating back to the Bronze Age.

Its charm also lies in the narrow streets of its towns and villages, from Mahon, its capital, sheltered at the head of one of the Mediterranean’s best-protected natural harbours, to beautiful Ciutadella, rich in historic monuments. The two towns sit at opposite ends of the island, 43km apart.

The road connecting them effectively divides Menorca in two: to the north, steep, rugged and bare coastlines reveal stretches of reddish sand; to the south lies Migjorn, a greener plain cut by deep ravines, with a multitude of turquoise coves nestled at their mouths.
Menorca remains the least touristy of the archipelago’s main islands.

Evelyne 7/6/26

—  A magnificent hike, very varied. The on-site agent (Javi) was very competent and friendly, and taught us a lot about Menorca, its history, its wildlife, its flora and its birds, and orchestrated our stay perfectly. A hike best done in spring or autumn.

Dominique 6/26/26

—  discovering splendid landscapes

Christine 10/19/26

—  A magnificent island; the agency did a great job organizing the trek; the hotels were comfortable and pleasant after a day of hiking; the driver was super friendly, always smiling, and very knowledgeable about the routes and sights. It was an amazing experience—I’d do it all over again tomorrow and would recommend it without reservation.

Cecile 12/27/25

—  Very satisfied with the itinerary and our contact on site. The service was a little expensive considering the quality of the accommodation and even if it was out of season, a hotel in the center of town in order to be able to eat in the evening seemed to me to be the minimum (there were hotels open in Fornells near restaurants that were also open), too bad...
