Slovenia is an excellent destination for hikers, often described as one of Europe’s best-kept secrets, with 2 outstanding hiking regions: Triglav National Park, the Julian Alps and the Karavanke.
The beating heart of Slovenia, Triglav National Park is a must-see. It is home to the country’s highest peak, Mount Triglav (2864 m), a national symbol. It is an exceptional playground for mountain lovers.
Beyond Triglav, Slovenia offers other equally appealing mountain ranges. The Karavanke, on the border with Austria, offer panoramic ridges and quieter trails.
At Grand Angle, we know that every hiker has their own preferences. That is why we offer two ways to discover Slovenia.
Our self-guided hiking trips are designed for those who enjoy walking at their own pace. We arrange your accommodation and luggage transfers, and provide you with detailed route notes. All you need to do is enjoy every moment with peace of mind, as on our hiking trip “From the Karavanke to Triglav: A Mountain Hut Trek”.
For those who value shared experiences and an expert’s knowledge, our guided hiking trips are the perfect option. Led by a professional with a passion for their region, you explore the secrets of the local wildlife, plant life and culture in a small group. You can look forward to an enriching experience, as on our trip “From the Slovenian Alps to the Adriatic Sea”.
The best time to go hiking in Slovenia is from June to September. During these months, the weather is generally settled and sunny, and high-altitude trails are free of snow. Spring (May–June) brings meadows full of flowers, while early autumn (September–October) dresses the forests in brilliant colours.
The key is to choose an itinerary that suits your fitness level and interests. Our trip information sheets detail the difficulty level, daily walking time and elevation gain and loss for each trip. For personalised advice, feel free to contact us: our experts can help you find the trip that suits you best.
