Are you looking for the most beautiful places in the Dolomites?

Here is a 7-day trip organised by Grand Angle, the French agency specialising in trekking in Italy. An invitation to discover the most beautiful landscapes in the Dolomites. This is a self-guided walking holiday, with a route guidebook to follow. If you prefer the company of a group and the expertise of a guide, take a look at one of our guided treks in the Dolomites.

This entirely exclusive route, from Val Gardena to the Latemar massif, takes you through the renowned Odle Geisler, Puez, Sella and Sassolungo massifs, overlooks Europe’s largest high Alpine meadow, Alpe di Siusi, and ends on a high with a spectacular traverse of the Rosengarten, its slender peaks like arrows pointing towards the sky. All the mountain huts are situated above 1685m, with spectacular balcony paths giving way to barren plateaus and lush green valleys.

This traverse will delight devoted fans of the Dolomites who, like us, believe they are among the most beautiful mountains in the world …

Enjoy a bird’s-eye view in this video of the Dolomites and their iconic sights (Tre Cime, Alpe di Siusi, Lake Braies)

For your lunchtime picnic:

  • A plastic bowl, container or plate
  • Cutlery (spoon, fork, knife)
  • A water bottle with a capacity of at least one and a half litres (required)

For protection from sun and rain:

  • Sunscreen (high protection) and sunglasses
  • A hat, cap or bucket hat
  • A rain poncho or Gore-Tex jacket, and optionally Gore-Tex trousers

After your walk

  • A pair of trainers for the evening
  • A change of clothes and underwear
  • A sleeping bag liner
  • A small toiletry bag and towel
  • A small first-aid kit: personal medication, face masks, hand sanitiser, Elastoplast, Biogaze or “2nd skin”, gauze, disinfectant, arnica granules and aspirin for minor aches and injuries… (quite a list! But rest assured, your first-aid kit often comes home untouched after your week of hiking)

For carrying your belongings

  • A small, comfortable 35 to 45 L backpack with a hip belt to carry your personal belongings and picnic during the day
  • One bag for luggage transfers: a backpack, a travel bag in good condition or a suitcase that is not too bulky. One bag per person, weighing no more than 12 kg.

For hiking:

  • Mountain hiking boots with ankle support, sturdy heel support, a good tread and reliable waterproofing
  • Comfortable hiking socks (at least 3 pairs)
  • A fleece
  • Comfortable walking trousers (quick-drying technical fabric)
  • Shorts, T-shirts and technical underwear (quick-drying fabric)
  • A long-sleeved shirt (quick-drying technical fabric)
  • Snow crampons (at the beginning and end of the season: June and September),
  • Walking poles (telescopic), very important for making walking easier
  • Gloves and warm hats

Please note: synthetic technical clothing performs very well. New merino wool clothing is also available; it performs very well, is comfortable to wear and has the advantage of resisting sweat odours! (Brands include Icebreaker, Ruka, etc.).
As a general rule, avoid cotton, which makes you cold when wet.

A closer look at the Dolomites
Among the most beautiful gems of the great Alpine mountain range, the Dolomites have incomparable features shaped by their terrain and the nature of their rock. It was in 1782 that Déodat de Dolomieu, born in Dolomieu in Isère (1750-1801), a scientist and geologist intrigued by the unusual appearance of these mountains, began studying them with a scholar’s meticulous attention to detail. He discovered and revealed their composition, earning him a rare tribute: the mountain range would bear his name! To negotiate the imposing structure of the rock faces, with their broad overhanging bands interrupted by horizontal ledges, people created routes equipped with ladders and steel cables: the via ferrata. These make it possible to follow magnificent routes through the very heart of this fascinating world of rock, both grand and rugged.

—  I recommend it without hesitation

Simon 9/28/26

—  Overall, I was satisfied with the trek (physical difficulty, scenic beauty). Good physical fitness is required. Comfortable mountain huts, warm hospitality, and excellent food. The roadbook matched the itineraries. The GPS app was useful.

Eric 12/27/25

—  This was our fourth trip to the Dolomites, and this time we decided to use an agency. We put our trust in Grand Angle because we'd used their services before. We were delighted with both their services and the spectacular scenery! The quality of the accommodation was fantastic. The only downside was that it was too crowded at weekends!

Nicolas 7/24/26
