Straddling France and Switzerland, the Jura Mountains stretch for nearly 300 km, with mid-altitude mountain landscapes covered in lush forests. This charming, unspoilt region is wonderfully suited to outdoor activities and ideal for hiking. In winter, the Jura becomes a haven for cross-country skiing, Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. Welcome to this paradise, where wooded pastures, lakes and hidden valleys await, along with rolling ridges offering incredible panoramic views of the entire Alps mountain range!

Criss-crossed by numerous GR trails (long-distance hiking routes), the Jura is made for multi-day hiking! Like the great trekking routes, the Échappée Jurassienne crosses the mountains from north to south, taking in the most beautiful natural spots and the most important heritage sites.
As soon as the snow settles, one long, continuous trail links the villages of the Jura: the Nordic skiing area is a true paradise for combining cross-country skiing with exploration of this enchanting mountain region. With snowshoes or Nordic skis on your feet, the vast wilderness awaits! From one valley to the next, between snow-laden spruce trees, enjoy making your own tracks and gradually climbing towards the peaks of the Haut-Jura, crossing back and forth over the border with #[Switzerland](/switzerland “Destination: Switzerland”). When evening comes, all that remains is to step inside a mountain refuge or a welcoming inn and sit down to a Comté cheese fondue or an oven-baked Mont d’Or… delicious!

— It was a very enjoyable trip with François, a very professional guide. The trails we took wound through magnificent snow-covered expanses and fragrant fir and larch forests, offering views of the entire region. Each lodging has its own unique charm, and the warm welcome from the hosts is much appreciated. A wonderful week!
