From the spectacular Gorges du Tarn to the Pyrenees, via the Camino de Santiago routes, the Canal du Midi and the delightful harbour of Collioure, Occitanie invites you to enjoy wonderful walks between mountains and sea, gorges and villages, nature and culture.

Walking from the Gorges du Tarn to the Pyrenees

To explore Occitanie on foot, immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery of the exclusive “Gorges du Tarn and Jonte” circuit. It leads through the wild, unspoilt landscapes of these two gorges and the Causses Méjean, Sauveterre and Causse Noir plateaux, taking you to charming villages such as Sainte-Enimie and La Malène.
Another fascinating area for walking in Occitanie, the gorges and beautiful villages of Aveyron can be explored by bike, while a walking adventure in Rouergue or a walking and spa holiday in the Cévennes invites you on a restorative journey.

Around Toulouse, explore the castles and Cathar Country on foot, or cycle along the Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on a journey through green landscapes, villages and historic towns such as Carcassonne, Béziers and Agde. For a stop along the way, our itinerary for visiting Carcassonne in one day takes you on foot from the medieval Cité to the Bastide Saint-Louis via the Pont Vieux.

The Pyrenees and their majestic snow-capped peaks also await, whether you want to discover the magnificent Cirque de Gavarnie or walk the Tour du Canigou. Sea lovers may prefer the “From Collioure to Cadaquès” walking route. Following ridges overlooking the Mediterranean, it offers views of wonderful rocky inlets and inspiring coves, tracing the footsteps of painters drawn to this region, such as Dalí, Miró, Picasso and Matisse.

Self-guided walking on the Camino de Santiago routes

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the “Via Podiensis” once led pilgrims from Notre-Dame du Puy-en-Velay to their ultimate destination: Santiago de Compostela. The symbolic and historical significance of this walking route has made it a firm favourite with walkers. It begins in Le Puy-en-Velay, leads into Aubrac and continues through the Lot Valley, taking in the unmissable village of Conques, before heading south-west towards the Pyrenees.

Grand Angle offers several self-guided walking itineraries along the “Via Podiensis”, each providing a distinctive adventure through different landscapes. The volcanic pinnacles of Le Puy, the Allier gorges and the gentle, green landscape of Margeride await on the “From Le Puy-en-Velay to Aumont-Aubrac” walk. Enjoy contrasting, captivating scenery from Aubrac to the Lot and Dourdou valleys on the “From Aumont to Conques” walk. Discover the beauty of the Lot Valley, followed by the Célé Valley, with excursions onto the forest-covered limestone plateaux, on the “From Conques to Cahors” walk. Explore limestone plateau country, ancient paved paths lined with stone walls, then gentle hills and green valleys on the “From Cahors to Lectoure” walk. Rolling farmland, followed by the Armagnac vineyards and wooded hillsides, awaits on the “From Lectoure to Aire-sur-l’Adour” walk. A Camino de Santiago route for everyone!

Geneviève 12/27/25 From Collioure to Cadaqués

—  Beautiful scenery and a very pleasant route. Please note, however, that for us, the advertised times were shorter than they actually were (participants over 60 but regular walkers).

Janig Et Bernard 12/27/25 From Collioure to Cadaqués

—  varied, contrasting and magnificent stages; the alternative sea-mountain option is a great privilege and allows you to personalize your tour to suit your tastes, desires and fitness level.
