From the Camargue to the foothills of the Alps, from the Baronnies to the Italian border, Provence and the French Riviera bring together coast, wetlands, hills and mountains.

The French Riviera, from Menton to Cannes, has busy coastal towns, yet a few kilometres from the beaches you can find surprisingly wild trails, balconies overlooking what remains one of the most beautiful regions of France. The Nice hinterland, through its unique history, holds remarkable heritage (including culinary), painted churches, hilltop villages.

The Var Coast has partly escaped concrete development. On the trail of the 3 capes near St Tropez, or on the Hyères islands, you can discover Mediterranean flora and coastal scenery. Likewise in the Calanques between Marseille and Cassis, protected as a National Park, or over the vast expanses of the Camargue where sky, earth and sea blend together.

The Provence hinterland is quite different. Whether in the hills of the Alpilles, the Luberon or the Forcalquier country, near the many gorges (Verdon, Trevans…), or on higher relief announcing the Alps (Baronnies, Ventoux, Digne country, Annot, Sisteron…), the landscape opens into broad, quiet spaces. In their perched villages, the inhabitants live in contact with nature and far from the stress of cities, If you travel with children, our family hiking guide in Verdon tells of eight days starting from Castellane, from the Samson Corridor and its tunnels to Sainte-Croix lake by paddleboard.

It is a land of light, which you will enjoy on foot or by bike, in winter near the sea: late December or February (one of the driest months of the year), elsewhere in spring with the scrubland in bloom. A very Mediterranean specialty: beautiful and long autumns that extend until November (one often swims in the sea at All Saints' Day!).

—  a stay rich in botanical discoveries (thanks to our guide's knowledge)…once again, we saw at first hand the damage that over-visiting a site can cause, but we also noted with interest the efforts made to protect the environment and regenerate it… beautiful viewpoints

—  A very beautiful region with small villages full of Provençal charm and magnificent scenery. The perfect route for a ride on an e-bike.
