Home to cultural and natural treasures listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Lithuania is a little gem that invites you to explore by bike. On a cycling holiday through the Baltic States, you discover the baroque old town of Vilnius, the Gothic castle of Trakai and the Hill of Crosses, ride along the Baltic Sea coast and explore the magnificent lagoon and dunes of the Curonian Spit. If you prefer to focus on the beauty of the Baltic coast, a cycling trip takes you from Klaipėda into the heart of the Curonian dunes and lagoon, via the Nemunas River delta.
As the final stage of the “Cycling Holiday through the Baltic States”, Lithuania brings your getaway to a wonderful close. After visiting the remarkable Hill of Crosses, you travel by minibus to the Baltic Sea coast and follow the cycle path along the shore between Klaipėda and Palanga. In this well-known seaside resort, you enjoy the vast beach, magnificent dunes and pine forests, and visit the botanical park and the must-see Amber Museum. The next stage of your adventure is a delight for lovers of unspoilt nature: the Curonian Spit, a strip of white sand winding along the coast, with dunes, an enchanting lagoon and a wealth of birdlife. You then discover the Nemunas delta and continue to Kaunas before visiting the 14th-century castle of Trakai. Your trip ends with a visit to the capital, Vilnius, a baroque gem of the Baltic States, and its UNESCO-listed old town.
A cycling trip along the Baltic Sea offers a refreshing escape amid beautiful, wild nature. Starting from Klaipėda, you follow the coast on a dedicated cycle path and discover Giruliai Forest, Dutchman’s Cap and Lake Plazė. You stop in the seaside resort of Palanga and visit the Amber Museum and botanical garden. The following rides take you inland between Priekulė and Šilutė, with a stop in the lovely village of Švėkšna. You then reach the Nemunas River delta to explore Rusnė Island and Ventė Cape, a haven for birds. The adventure concludes at the magnificent Curonian Lagoon, fringed by a ribbon of sand sculpted into white dunes.
