Meet on Sunday at 9:45 am at the Flégère cable car station (Les Praz de Chamonix). Take the Flégère cable car up to the panoramic trails overlooking Mont Blanc, then walk to Lac Blanc at 2300m. Descend along the trail winding through the forest to the village of Argentière.
Drawing on our expertise in the Alps since 1983, we offer a 7-day hiking trip around Mont-Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe. This route crosses three countries – France, Switzerland and Italy – with varied scenery every day and a gradual immersion in the heart of the Alpine massif. This very comfortable version combines the pleasure of walking with a high level of comfort: nights in quality hotels and guesthouses, in rooms with private bathrooms.
The route starts in Chamonix and takes you in manageable stages to the alpine pastures of Bovine or the Fenêtre d’Arpette, the Col Ferret in Italy, the panoramic trails of Mont de la Saxe from Courmayeur, then back into France via the Col de la Seigne and the Col du Bonhomme. Each stage takes you over iconic mountain passes and offers panoramic views of the massif. Along the way, you may encounter alpine wildlife: marmots, chamois and ibex.
This trip is designed for hikers who want to walk in comfort without carrying a heavy backpack. Each evening, you stay in accommodation selected for its quality: comfortable rooms, hot showers, carefully prepared meals and a warm atmosphere. At Grand Angle, we take care of logistics, luggage transfers and bookings, so you can focus on walking and enjoying the scenery. If you prefer to walk independently, ask us about the self-guided options available for your travel dates. The ideal season runs from late June to mid-September, when conditions and scenery are at their best.

Program
Transfer to the Col de la Forclaz in Switzerland (20/30 minutes). Depending on conditions and the group’s fitness, we will either cross the alpine pastures of Bovine along a panoramic trail with spectacular views of the Rhône valley, or climb alongside the Trient Glacier to reach the legendary Fenêtre d’Arpette, a more alpine route at an altitude of 2700 m.
A bus transfer of around 1 hour takes us to the village of La Fouly. From there, we will climb to Col Ferret (2537m), on the border with Italy, where we may meet the herders at the La Peule mountain pasture. We will continue our descent into the Italian Val Ferret, at the foot of the Pré de Bar glacier and Mont Dolent, where France, Switzerland and Italy meet. Overnight in a very comfortable lodge in Arnouva, or a possible bus transfer to a hotel in La Palud, depending on availability.
We will climb to the Bonatti mountain hut, then follow a high-level traverse to Mont de la Saxe, with outstanding views of Mont Blanc, Mont Dolent, the Aiguille du Triolet and the Grandes Jorasses. We will then descend to Courmayeur.
A bus transfer of around 30 minutes takes us to La Visaille. We will pass the glacial lake of Miage and cross Col de la Seigne, which marks the border between France and Italy. There will also be the option of a detour along the Grand Balcon Sud of Mont Blanc, via Col Chécroui and Mont Fortin, offering spectacular views of mountain silhouettes reminiscent of the Himalayas.
We will begin the day with the climb to the famous Col du Bonhomme (2329m). We will then descend to Notre Dame de la Gorge), an old passage once used by travelling pedlars, and follow the ancient Roman road through the valley. A short transfer will take us to our accommodation in Les Contamines-Montjoie.
We will climb to the Bionnassay glacier via either the village of Champel or Col du Tricot (2120m). This route offers an unmissable panorama of the Chamonix valley, the Dômes de Miage and Mont Blanc. We will then descend to the village of Les Houches.
The hike ends on Saturday at 16:00 at the base of the Prarion gondola in Les Houches.
We may need to change the itinerary described, either for logistical reasons (accommodation capacity issues, splitting groups, changes in terrain conditions, rockfalls, damaged trails, etc.) or at the guide’s discretion (weather, the group’s ability, etc.). These changes are always made in your best interests, for your safety and greater comfort!

Technical and practical information
Intermediate. Between 5 and 7 hours of walking and/or 650 to 1300m of ascent and 750 to 1500m of descent per day. Few technical sections, with a mix of tracks and trails. Suitable for motivated children who are strong walkers, aged 12 and over (accompanied by their parents). You should be able to comfortably walk 15km on flat terrain in no more than 3 hours.
The Tour du Mont Blanc is a long-distance mountain walking route accessible to anyone in good overall physical condition. Although it presents no particular technical difficulties (no steep, exposed sections, well-marked trails, etc.), it is still a physically demanding walk that requires you to manage almost 1000metres of ascent per day for a full week. Recommended preparation: regular endurance exercise (walking, jogging, cycling, etc.), with 3 to 4 hours of exercise per week.
No heavy bags to carry: you carry only a small daypack with your belongings for the day and your picnic lunch. Your luggage will be waiting for you every evening at the end of the day’s walk. Luggage is transferred by vehicle. A support vehicle takes your bag from one overnight stop to the next. Your changes of clothes must be packed in 1 soft-sided bag weighing no more than 10 kg!
6 to 14 people
Guide gratuities are optional and at your discretion. To reward outstanding service, a suggested guideline is 5–10% of the total trip cost. Local currency is preferred.

If driving, check current road conditions and parking availability in the Chamonix valley before departure.
A number of our trips offer opportunities to swim during a day’s walk or at the end of the day. It would be a shame to miss out. However, we emphasise that you alone must decide whether swimming is appropriate; you therefore swim under your own responsibility and at your own risk.

For carrying your belongings - A comfortable small backpack with a capacity of 35 to 45 L and a hip belt, to carry your personal belongings and picnic lunch during the day - A bag for luggage transfers: a backpack or a soft travel bag in good condition. One bag per person, with a weight limit of 10 kg
For hiking - Waterproof hiking boots with ankle support, a sturdy heel counter and soles with good grip - Comfortable hiking socks (at least 3 pairs) - A fleece - Comfortable walking trousers (quick-drying technical fabric) - Shorts, T-shirts and technical underwear (quick-drying fabric) - A long-sleeved shirt (quick-drying technical fabric) - Trekking poles (telescopic), very important for making walking easier - Gloves and a warm hat
Note: synthetic technical clothing performs very well. New merino wool garments are also available; they perform very well, are comfortable to wear and have the advantage of resisting sweat odours! For your lunchtime picnic - Airtight plastic container for picnics and a cup - Cutlery (spoon, fork, knife) - Water bottle with a capacity of at least one and a half litres (mandatory)
Protection from sun and rain - Sunscreen (high protection) and sunglasses - Hat, cap or bucket hat - A rain poncho or Gore-Tex jacket, and optionally Gore-Tex trousers
After your walk - A pair of running shoes for the evening - A change of clothes and underwear - Toiletry bag - Quick-drying towel - A head torch - A small first-aid kit: personal medication, Elastoplast, Biogaze or “2nd skin”, gauze, antiseptic, arnica granules and aspirin for minor aches and injuries … (quite a list! There is plenty to choose from, so don’t hesitate to browse through old books! We can wholeheartedly recommend Éditions Guérin in Chamonix, which publishes beautiful hardback books about the mountains, with lovely red covers
