Why choose a hiking trip with Grand Angle?

Since 1983, we have been scouting the most beautiful trails in France and Europe to offer you genuine experiences. Our expertise is built on a deep passion for hiking and a commitment to quality, ensuring you travel with complete peace of mind.

The freedom of our self-guided hiking tours

Opt for a self-guided walking holiday in France or elsewhere in Europe to explore at your own rhythm. We handle all the logistics: accommodation booking, luggage transfer, and providing detailed maps and a travel app. You simply enjoy the pleasure of walking, with the assurance of our support whenever needed. It’s the perfect formula for those who value autonomy without sacrificing comfort.

The conviviality of our guided group tours

Join one of our guided hiking groups in France to share your passion with other walkers. Led by a professional guide who knows the region inside and out, you’ll discover hidden secrets and enjoy a friendly atmosphere. These trips are an excellent way to meet new people while benefiting from expert supervision, making them a great option for solo travelers as well.

Our most iconic hiking destinations in Europe

From alpine peaks to Mediterranean coastlines, our itineraries cover a wide range of landscapes to satisfy every walker’s desires.

Legendary treks in the Alps

The Alps are a must-see for mountain lovers. Challenge yourself with the iconic Tour du Mont Blanc, a legendary trek offering spectacular panoramas. Explore the magnificent landscapes of the Italian Alps by discovering our hiking tours in the Dolomites, with their unique jagged peaks and welcoming mountain huts. For those seeking wilder terrain, the high plateaus of the Vercors offer a complete change of scenery.

Sun-drenched trails in Southern Europe

If you’re drawn to the sun and sea, our hiking trips in Greece are for you. Wander the ancient paths of Crete or hop between islands on a self-guided tour in the Cyclades. In Italy, let yourself be charmed by the colorful villages of the Cinque Terre hiking tour. Portugal also offers magnificent coastal trails, especially on the island of Madeira, a true floating garden.

The great long-distance routes

For those who enjoy long-distance walking, some routes are legendary. Embark on a spiritual and human adventure on the Camino de Santiago, following the final section of the French Way. Another iconic journey is the crossing of the Alps from Munich to Venice, an incredible journey through diverse mountain cultures and landscapes.

How to prepare for your hiking trip

A successful trip is a well-prepared trip. Here is some advice to help you choose and plan your next adventure.

When is the best time to go hiking in Europe?

The best season depends on your destination. Spring hiking, from April to June, is ideal for enjoying pleasant temperatures and blooming nature, especially in destinations like France. Summer is perfect for the mountains, while autumn, with its beautiful colors, is wonderful for exploring regions like Tuscany. For more specific advice, feel free to contact our experts.

Choosing the right trip for your level

We offer stays for all levels, from leisurely walks to demanding treks. Each trip description details the daily walking time, the elevation gain, and the required physical condition. To help you pack, consult our practical guides, such as the essential packing list for a day hike or our advice on how to choose your hiking poles.

Expand your horizons beyond hiking

Many of our travelers who love the trails of France or Italy are also passionate about discovering new landscapes in different ways. If you enjoy active travel, why not try a cycling trip? Explore the famous Danube cycle path or ride along the French Atlantic coast for a different perspective. For those who love the mountains in summer, consider discovering their magic in winter with our snowshoeing trips.

—  Very interesting itineraries that often take you along less-traveled trails. Transportation and hotels were impeccable. A few inconsistencies between the app and the roadbook. The map showing how to get to Portela from Porto da Cruz is missing. Overall, we’re thrilled with this trip!

Thank you very much for your feedback! We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you also for your comments on the roadbook and the app—we'll look into them to improve our materials. We look forward to accompanying you on your next trip!

—  Deviously difficult mountain hikes and climbs, so be prepared and be in shape. Utterly thrilling with majestic views. Warm accommodations and great meals.

—  This was one of the best trips of my life!! Physically, the hiking was challenging, but doable, which was what my party was looking for. Every minute of the day, the views were SPECTACULAR!!! Literally breathtaking. Our guide took great care of us and we LOVED our 3 course meals every night in the different, fascinating cities. We also met so many fun and friendly people on the Tour. Loved it all❤️

—  Scenery was out of this world. The ascents were hard but it meant you could stop and take it all in, take your time and appreciate just what you are achieving.
