If you haven’t booked accommodation in Prague, you can optionally meet in the morning for bike pick-up and briefing (if you arrived in Prague the previous day, this meeting can be arranged the previous evening). You begin your trip from Prague by following the beautiful Vltava and Berounka rivers to Karlštejn Castle, built in the 14th century to serve as a quiet retreat for the King of Bohemia. Above all, it is the fortress guarding the jewels of the Bohemian and Imperial crown! You follow well-marked and very pleasant cycling paths through beautiful wooded countryside. You cycle through small picturesque villages such as Dobřichovice with its castle. At midday, you can either visit the castle and village of Karlstejn, or the Karst region of Malá and Velká Amerika! In the afternoon, you can enjoy the beauty of the protected natural area of the Czech Karst. You then cycle through the limestone canyon of the Berounka River, soon arriving at the old royal town of Beroun with its well-preserved gates and historic centre. From the castles of Žebrák and Točník, it’s just a short way to your accommodation in the small town of Žebrák or Zbiroh.
From Prague to Regensburg
Specialist in organized bike trips across Europe, Grand Angle takes you on a medieval route connecting two UNESCO World Heritage gems: Prague and Regensburg. This point-to-point journey immerses you in history, between the former Kingdom of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Empire.
Starting from Prague, the famous ‘city of a hundred spires’, your cycling route in the Czech Republic follows the Vltava and Berounka rivers. You will discover architectural treasures such as Karlštejn Castle, before reaching Plzeň (Pilsen), the birthplace of world-famous beer.
The itinerary continues as you cross the border into Germany and Bavaria. You cycle along the Regen River, through bucolic landscapes dotted with castles, until you reach Regensburg. This charming medieval city, a true open-air museum, is the highlight of your journey.

Program
Today, you visit the Brdy Nature Reserve while cycling towards Dobřív. There, you can admire a stone bridge from the 14th century and restored mills from the 17st century – the largest in the country! Following the Klabava River, you pass through the sleepy town of Rokycany before gradually reaching your destination for the day - Plzeň (Pilsen). The famous Pilsner Urquell beer is brewed here. We recommend a visit to the brewery.
In Pilsen, you can admire the world’s third-largest synagogue or climb to the top of the Czech Republic’s tallest bell tower, which offers a magnificent view of the countryside and the city. Back on your bike, you follow the road south to visit the memorial to the victims of communism. Then you cycle along the Radbuza river, which will guide you for much of the day, through a small nature reserve to the towns of Dobřany and Chotěšov with its impressive monastery. Following the meanders of the Radbuza, you arrive at the charming town of Horšovský Týn. From there, it’s just a hill to climb to reach Domažlice, the centre of a people called the Chods, who have their own culture. Founded in the 13th century, this town was marked by an important royal presence and is today an example of a prosperous Czech town. Many traditions have remained embedded in the local culture, such as the use of bagpipes. Take time to admire the town’s old square with its imposing tower, or simply listen to the singing of the night watchman.
Today, you cross the former Iron Curtain to the German town of Fürth. From Fürth, known for its festival and dragon museum, you follow the Cham river to its confluence with the Regen river and continue to the old town of Cham, passing through its beer gate. Along the charming Regen, you wind to the ancient town of Roding, dating from the 9th century and called the gateway to the Bavarian forest, where you spend your first night in Germany.
On your last day of cycling, you cross numerous nature reserves and wetlands – many birds to observe! You then cross a region called Schlossareal (land of castles) because of its many fortified castles, ruins and monasteries. Your destination for the day is the magnificent city of Regensburg. With a history of more than 2000 years, you find here many Celtic, Teutonic, Roman and Holy Roman Empire wonders! Among the highlights: Central Europe’s oldest bridge, the imperial palace, a fantastic cathedral…
We may sometimes need to modify the indicated itinerary: either at the organisational level (accommodation overload problems, terrain condition changes, landslides, degraded paths, etc.), or weather conditions. These modifications are always made in your best interest, for your safety and for better comfort!

A number of our trips lend themselves to swimming, during a stage or at the end of the day. It would be a shame not to take advantage of it. However, we emphasize that you are the sole judges of whether swimming is appropriate; these swimming sessions are therefore done under your responsibility and at your own risk.

— Superb region, well organized, comfortable hotels, too bad the bikes aren't up to scratch.
Thank you for your positive feedback on the region, the organization, and the accommodations. We’re sorry that the bikes didn’t meet your expectations. This is the first time we’ve received negative feedback on this issue, and we’ve already shared your feedback with our local partner so they can consider improvements. We place great importance on the quality of the equipment we provide and take your feedback very seriously.
