Program
Classified among France’s Most Beautiful Villages, you will pass through Saint-Jean-de-Côle, a medieval town located less than one kilometre south of the Flow Vélo® route, in the hills of Green Périgord. Stroll through pedestrian streets lined with half-timbered houses and enjoy a coffee break facing the Château de la Marthonie. The 11th-century Romanesque-Byzantine church, the priory, the market halls and the stone bridge contribute to the charm of this picturesque small village. At Saint-Pardoux-la-Rivière, wild orchids bloom from April to mid-June. Arrival at Nontron, a city of commerce, craft art and industry built on a hillside that overlooks the Bandiat Valley and its sinuous course. Art gardens, fountains and half-timbered houses located around the castle offer a peaceful stroll through the town, crowned with the Arts and Crafts City label. Nontron, capital of cutlery. Visit the Coutellerie Nontronnaise manufacture with its centuries-old artisanal expertise if you have time.
Night in Nontron at hotel 3*
A wonderful day of cycling. Lovers of nature and tranquility will appreciate the route from Nontron to Marthon in the first part of the day. From Souffrignac, the Flow Vélo® uses the green path La Coulée d’Oc with pastoral and wooded landscapes. You will then arrive at the peaceful town that once belonged to the Marthon domain. At Chazelles, discover the Quéroy caves. You will quietly reach Angoulême, City of Art and History, comic book capital. You will pass along the Chais Magelis which houses a museum dedicated to the 9th art. In this temple of comic books, you will find the largest collection of comic pages and originals in Europe. A few metres away stands the proud statue of Corto Maltese. The historic centre, located in the upper part of the town, overlooks the Charente. The gigantic dome of Saint-Pierre Cathedral and its six-storey bell tower is remarkable when arriving in old Angoulême. The sculpted façade of the building is a masterpiece of Romanesque art.
Night at hotel 3* in Angoulême.
This day will be along the Charente. Between rows of vines and bunches of grapes, green dominates the landscape along the Flow Vélo. Visit one of the famous cognac houses: Baron Otard, Camus, Hennessy, Martell, Rémy Martin, Meukow, in Cognac; Courvoisier or Thomas Hine and Co in Jarnac. Each major cognac house offers a tour of the cellars and distillery followed by a tasting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Comment sent by RESSOUCHES Nadine in SeptemberItinerary that matches the description The accommodations are varied, well-located, and comfortable
★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Comment sent by Monique in DecemberVery nice route, a few unplanned tracks, generally pleasant, quiet roads, a few unnecessary detours, but generally perfect if you follow the GPS, on the maps some names are not found on the roads, poor signposting in the region. But a very pleasant and friendly hike in the accommodations.
