Here is an exceptional hiking tour of 8 days, offered by Grand Angle, the specialist agency for trekking stays in Andalusia and Spain. It is led by a passionate guide and shared in a small group.

This tour invites you to discover the Alpujarras massif, backed by the Sierra Nevada and descending to the Mediterranean beaches. It offers lush vegetation, ranging from mountain plants to olives, orange trees, almond trees, fig trees and vineyards.

With its 325 days of sunshine and water from the eternal snows of the Sierra Nevada, bougainvilleas and jasmine flowers bloom all year.

This region, between sea and mountains protected as a national park, is home to fauna and flora of exceptional diversity.

The massif, the last stronghold of the Moors, reveals its history through its architecture and gastronomy, while a day in Granada will allow you to visit the majestic Alhambra.

The mountains of Taha offer serene and splendid nature, where many artists, writers and musicians from all over the world come to replenish themselves in search of inspiration. The Taha region comprises seven typical villages dating from the Roman era: Capileira, Pitres ‘the capital’, Altabéitar, Mecina, Mecinilla, Fondales and finally Ferreirola. In these villages, traditions are still present and some still use the ancestral irrigation system.

Known for its beautiful sunny coasts, Andalusia has much to offer its visitors throughout the year. Each season is conducive to visiting a specific region or place. Therefore, choosing the best time to visit Andalusia is solely dictated by availability and traveller expectations. For a journey inland, the best period is undoubtedly spring. Again, avoid the week preceding Easter as well as the April Fair period, if you wish to discover the region peacefully. Autumn offers visitors the opportunity to discover all of Andalusia, far from the hustle and bustle of fairs and tourists. Winter can prove to be a good compromise for discovering Andalusia in complete tranquility; tourists are rare and the weather is pleasantly mild.

Spanish

Euro

The blue of the sea, the blue of the sky stand in contrast to the white of the villages. In Andalusia, Muslim, Jewish and Christian civilisations blend in fabulous arabesques. The mountains caress the Costa del Sol, unfortunately sometimes marred by relentless concrete development. The sun shines brightly, incandescent, as Northern Europe floods Andalusia from spring onwards.

Spain becomes warm and laid-back, in short: welcoming. This hospitality is the deep root of Andalusian land. It has nurtured a homogeneous people despite their multiple origins (Moors, Jews, Catholics, Gypsies).

Andalusia is all of this and many other subtle details: the shade of the streets and the brightness of the gaze, the quiet of the afternoon and the bustle of the fairs, the fervour of processions and the tart taste of olives. To satisfy this beautiful appetite for living while refreshing your mind, a good solution: tapas, manzanilla and siesta.

—  Lovely discovery hike, intermediate level, made more difficult by the weather conditions (30 to 35 degrees)

—  All right.

—  A beautiful tour through the olive groves, but the visit to the Alhambra was too short (2 hours and 30 minutes).
