Minorca by Bike
Far from the hustle and bustle of its larger sisters, Minorca offers a preserved and authentic face of the archipelago. Designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1993, , this Mediterranean pearl has managed to preserve its identity, traditions, and wild landscapes. An ideal setting for a cycling trip, gently, with each pedal stroke.
This self-guided cycling stay is an invitation to explore the unsuspected treasures of this island off Spain. On the programme: cliffs sculpted by sea spray to secret coves with turquoise waters, passing through the serene atmosphere of fishing villages and historic streets of Ciutadella. Your itinerary of 8 days, carefully designed by our experts, alternates between coastline and inland areas to allow you to discover all the diversity of the island.
Accessible to all cyclists, from the most experienced to sporting families, the stages from 35 to 42km lead you to discover hidden treasures: the crystal-clear waters of Cala Macarella, the prehistoric remains of Torre d’en Galmes, or the striking lights of Cap Favaritx. Each day is a new exploration, facilitated by faultless organisation and charming accommodations that extend your immersion in Minorca’s atmosphere.
A free-form journey that combines the spirit of adventure with logistics thought through in every detail. For more than 40 years, Grand Angle is committed to imagining and organising the most beautiful adventures in Europe. This stay offers you the freedom to discover Minorca at your own pace, between sea, scrubland, and ancient sites. An authentic experience, off the beaten path, which you can extend by discovering other cycling trips to the Balearic Islands.

Program
Your day begins with a bike ride around Mao-Mahon and its fortress La Mola. After a stop in the historic centre, you will continue to Cales Coves cove, Cal Porter and its beautiful beach, then Torre d’en Galmes. You will then reach Alaior, a village inland where you will spend the night in a typically Minorcan house. Night in a charming guest house in Alaior.
Today’s stage is a loop. You will head to the North of the island through varied landscapes (pine and holm oak forests, plantations…) to Cap Favaritx and its magnificent lighthouse situated in the middle of a lunar landscape. Night in a charming guest house in Alaior.
The first part of the stage will take you to the Cap Cavalleria lighthouse, which is located at the top of a superb cliff. You can also take a walk on Cavalleria beach just below. The highlight of the day: Binimel beach and its azure lagoons. The stage ends at Port Fornells where you will spend the night_. Overnight in a hotel in Port Fornells.
You leave Port Fornells heading towards Sant Tomas along the old royal road (Cami Reial). You will cross the island through Mercalda and Es Migjorn Gran to reach Sant Tomas beach. Your cycling stage ends today at Cala Galdana, a large cove with very beautiful cliffs. The sandy beach is sublime and the water is crystal clear. Overnight in a hotel in Cala Galdana.
In the morning, transfer from your hotel to Ciutadella, the starting point of today’s itinerary, which will lead you to the beaches of the south of the island, passing through Turqueta Cove and Son Saura Beach. These very beautiful coves with translucent water are surrounded by cliffs and pine trees. You will then return to Ciutadella, a true little jewel. The limestone illuminates the facades of the seigniorial palaces in golden hues. The sheltered port under the ramparts is full of small typical restaurants.
Overnight in a hotel in Ciutadella.
Today you will go to explore the wild coast of Menorca, around Falconera (cliff of 207m), forests, dunes and superb unspoilt gorges and beaches. Take time to visit Cala Morell, a nice little natural harbour north of Ciutadella. This remarkable site includes fourteen artificial caves carved into the rock walls of a ravine. Currently, it is among the largest and most impressive sets of prehistoric burials on the island. Return to Ciutadella for the night. Overnight in a hotel in Ciutadella.
End of stay after breakfast at your hotel in Ciutadella.
We may sometimes need to modify the itinerary indicated: either in terms of organisation (accommodation overload issues, terrain condition changes, landslides, degraded trails, etc.), or weather conditions. These modifications are always made in your interest, for your safety and for better comfort!

There is no time difference between France and Minorca.
The smallest of the islands in the Balearic archipelago, Menorca, located north of Mallorca, does not experience the same tourist influx as Ibiza. Yet, this destination is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet. It enjoys, indeed, a Mediterranean climate that provides almost perfect climatic conditions throughout the four seasons that succeed each other throughout the year. While summers are hot and dry, winters are mild and pleasant. As for spring, the days are filled with a soft and warm atmosphere. Autumn and its beautiful sunshine accompanied by pleasant warmth are perfect for extending your beach holidays.

— Total disconnection. Combining cycling and discovering the island in these conditions is magical. The island is beautiful and the tour is really top-notch. I'd still recommend the electric bike for those who don't cycle, because even if there aren't any big changes in altitude, it's always going up and down. The bikes were really good quality (a classic for my husband and an electric for me). We'll be going back with Grand Angle without hesitation.

— Exploring Menorca by bike was a wonderful experience. However, the accommodations varied widely, ranging from a 4-star hotel—Artiem (top-notch)—to a 2-star hotel. The Hotel Menorca in Ciutadella was very good. At the hotel in Fornells, the breakfast was lacking, with low-quality supermarket items, but the staff was very welcoming.
Hello, and thank you very much for your feedback!
We’re delighted that you enjoyed exploring Menorca by bike.
Regarding the difference in hotel ratings, as indicated in our itinerary details, this tour does indeed combine 2- to 4-star hotels. This selection allows us to offer you ideally located stops throughout your trip. However, we take your comment about breakfast in Fornells very seriously. We will follow up with this partner to improve the quality of the food served.
We look forward to accompanying you on your next adventure!

— Too difficult in high season (September) because of the heat and the altitude difference, and too many people.
