Beyond their reputation as a beach destination, the Balearic Islands offer unexpected opportunities for adventure. Mallorca showcases the grandeur of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its succession of villages built from dry stone and breathtaking views over the Mediterranean. Menorca, a quieter destination, charms visitors with its unspoilt landscapes and historic trail network, the Camí de Cavalls, which circles the island for 185 kilometres.
These Mediterranean islands combine a mild climate, rich cultural heritage and varied landscapes. Between sculpted cliffs, Aleppo pine forests and ancient Talayotic heritage, every walk or bike ride reveals another side of these island landscapes. Air and ferry connections make them accessible from many European departure points; check the routes available from your own location.
Our self-guided walking holidays and cycling tours in the Balearic Islands allow you to explore the archipelago at your own pace. Carefully selected accommodation, arranged luggage transfers and a detailed route guide: Grand Angle takes care of the logistics while you savour every moment of discovery. This option is ideal for travellers who want to combine independence with the peace of mind of having the arrangements taken care of.
The holidays listed on this page differ in route, duration and included services. Check each trip page for confirmed dates and booking availability; if none is currently bookable, ask our team for an up-to-date quotation.
Walking in the Balearic Islands reveals the landscapes up close: mule paths carved into limestone, routes through fragrant Mediterranean scrubland and climbs to viewpoints offering striking panoramas across the archipelago. The islands are particularly well suited to leisurely walks, punctuated by stops in unspoilt villages where time seems to stand still.
Cycling holidays allow you to cover greater distances and experience a wider variety of surroundings: rugged coastlines, farmland dotted with windmills, and winding roads climbing towards hilltop monasteries. This approach suits travellers who want to explore more of the region while maintaining an environmentally considerate pace of travel.
Mallorca brings together a remarkable variety of landscapes. The Serra de Tramuntana offers challenging hikes through striking rocky scenery, while the central plains reveal an authentic rural heritage dotted with traditional fincas. Our trips explore mountain villages such as Valldemossa as well as secluded coves on the north coast, which attracts fewer visitors than the southern coastline.
Menorca charms visitors with its quieter character and unspoilt natural surroundings. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the island is home to endemic flora and exceptionally pristine coastal landscapes. The Camí de Cavalls, a former military coastal patrol route, offers wonderful opportunities for exploration for walkers and cyclists seeking an authentic experience.
Spring trips (April–May) and autumn trips (September–October) offer ideal conditions: mild temperatures, soft light, and spring flowers or autumn colours. These periods avoid the busy summer crowds while ensuring favourable weather for outdoor activities.
Mallorca suits travellers looking for varied surroundings and activities, with a rich cultural heritage and greater changes in elevation. Menorca appeals to lovers of wild nature and tranquillity, with unspoilt coastal landscapes and a more intimate atmosphere. Our travel advisers are available to guide you according to your specific interests and expectations.
The Balearic Islands are an ideal destination for introducing children to the pleasures of active travel. For a family trip, compare the daily distances, elevation gain, accommodation and transport arrangements on each available holiday. Our advisers can help you judge whether an itinerary suits the ages and walking or cycling experience of everyone travelling. The islands offer opportunities to combine outdoor days with time by the sea and cultural visits.

— A magnificent hike, very varied. The on-site agent (Javi) was very competent and friendly, and taught us a lot about Menorca, its history, its wildlife, its flora and its birds, and orchestrated our stay perfectly. A hike best done in spring or autumn.

— A trip that could have been perfect if it weren't for certain logistical issues.

— Total disconnection. Combining cycling and discovering the island in these conditions is magical. The island is beautiful and the tour is really top-notch. I'd still recommend the electric bike for those who don't cycle, because even if there aren't any big changes in altitude, it's always going up and down. The bikes were really good quality (a classic for my husband and an electric for me). We'll be going back with Grand Angle without hesitation.

— A magnificent island; the agency did a great job organizing the trek; the hotels were comfortable and pleasant after a day of hiking; the driver was super friendly, always smiling, and very knowledgeable about the routes and sights. It was an amazing experience—I’d do it all over again tomorrow and would recommend it without reservation.
