Easy to reach yet wonderfully different, the Black Forest is an excellent destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Its vast forests of fir and spruce, glacial lakes such as Titisee and Schluchsee, and high, rounded peaks offer varied terrain with clearly marked trails. It is one of Germany’s mountain ranges best known for hiking, offering an immersion in a culture with well-preserved traditions. All our holidays in Germany are designed to help you discover these treasures with peace of mind.
At Grand Angle, we know that every traveller has their own idea of adventure. That is why we offer two ways to explore the Black Forest.
Do you enjoy walking or cycling at your own pace? Our self-guided walking holidays are made for you. We take care of all the logistics: booking accommodation, transporting your luggage between stops and providing detailed route notes with maps and GPS tracks. All you need to do is enjoy your day, free from logistical concerns.
If you prefer to share your experience and benefit from a local expert’s knowledge, our group tours are the ideal option. Accompanied by a Grand Angle guide, you discover the region’s secrets in a small group with a friendly atmosphere. Your guide manages the itinerary and brings the route to life with stories, ensuring a fully immersive experience.
The Black Forest lends itself to a wide range of activities throughout the seasons.
The ideal time for hiking and cycling runs from May to October. Spring and autumn offer beautiful colours and mild temperatures, while summer is a chance to enjoy the cool air of the high-altitude forests. Winter, from December to March, is suitable for snowshoeing holidays when there is enough snow.
To choose a holiday that suits you, consider how much physical effort you want to put in, which activity appeals to you most, and whether you prefer independence or the shared experience of a group. Each trip description sets out the difficulty level, elevation gain and type of accommodation. For personalised advice, feel free to contact our experts, who know the destination inside out.
With its well-maintained trails, often moderate elevation changes and many attractions, including farm inns and waterfalls, the Black Forest is well suited to family holidays in nature. Although the holidays on this page are mainly designed for adults, we can help you find suitable family walking holidays or family cycling holidays. Contact us so we can plan your trip together.
