A level 2 trip is for active people who want to walk or cycle for several days without aiming for sporting performance. It is a useful starting point when choosing a trip, but the terrain, daily distances and elevation gain are specific to each itinerary.

On walking trips, days often involve several hours of walking on trails suitable for regular walkers. On cycling trips, the distance, terrain, type of bike and quality of the surface make a considerable difference to the actual effort required. The figures given in the detailed trip itinerary are therefore more useful than an overall average.
This level requires regular physical activity and the ability to sustain the effort over several days. Simple preparation, with walking or cycling every week and a few longer outings before departure, helps you enjoy the trip more fully.
Before booking, check the duration, distance, elevation gain and terrain for each day’s route. Also consider how much you will need to carry, the altitude, possible weather conditions and the demands of consecutive days of activity. If you are unsure between two levels, our team can compare your usual activities with the itinerary you are considering.
For a gentler pace, see our level 1 trips. For more sustained effort, explore our level 3 trips, level 4 trips and level 5 trips.
On a self-guided trip, you follow the itinerary and route notes, with the services listed in the trip description and greater independence throughout the day. On a guided group trip, the guide leads the trip and adjusts how the group proceeds to suit the conditions encountered, within the scope of the itinerary.
Level 2 trips are available as walking holidays, cycling holidays and sometimes bike and boat holidays. Families with active teenagers can also browse the family selection, then check the minimum age and difficulty level for each trip.

— Beautiful Hikes The scenery is beautiful, and the trails are well-maintained. Some of the hikes are a bit more challenging than you’d expect for a Level 2 hike. Very pleasant accommodations: the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The meals are varied, and we really enjoyed the pool.
Evelyne 7/6/26
— A magnificent hike, very varied. The on-site agent (Javi) was very competent and friendly, and taught us a lot about Menorca, its history, its wildlife, its flora and its birds, and orchestrated our stay perfectly. A hike best done in spring or autumn.

Jean-Michel 6/23/26 • Hiking in Greece: Self-guided trip in the Cyclades
— These are some really beautiful hikes, but June 10–19 is a little too late in the season because of the heat. For most of the hikes, it’s impossible to set out early due to bus schedules and breakfast times at the hotels.
