Africa is probably the most mysterious and captivating continent on the planet, with its many colours and cultures. Discover the wonders of this continent and enjoy meaningful encounters through Grand Angle’s wide range of walking holidays, treks and trips.
Why not start with a walk in the Cape Verde archipelago, on a guided or self-guided walking holiday? At the crossroads of South America, Africa and Europe, Cape Verde has a unique blend of peoples and cultures. Its diversity of climates and landscapes is remarkable, and each island in the archipelago has its own appeal. Exploring on foot, Santo Antão reveals deep valleys with lush tropical terraces, while São Vicente is a desert island stretching out into the ocean. To the west, Fogo is a volcanic island with dark lava landscapes.
Head to the Southern Hemisphere and the Indian Ocean to get to know the island of Réunion on a legendary trek across the island. Here, nature reigns supreme: vegetation is abundant and the unspoilt cirques are breathtaking. In the Cirque de Cilaos, the caldera shelters a magnificent wild forest. At Saint-Pierre beach, explore the lava tunnels, which offer a beautiful snorkelling spot, perfect for a swim!
South Africa is a rainbow nation with landscapes of exceptional beauty! From valleys, mountains and forests to deserts, coastlines and grassy savannahs, South Africa is full of treasures. This richness extends to its wildlife, among the most abundant and diverse on the planet. During your trip, discover Kruger National Park, where you can observe lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo and rhinoceroses! Venture into the enclave of Swaziland and meet the welcoming Swazi people, guardians of the Ezulwini Valley.
Finally, let’s head to East Africa for a trip and walking holiday to discover Tanzania! The unmissable Kilimanjaro National Park is home to the continent’s highest peak. Climb Kilimanjaro on foot via the Machame Route on a trek lasting several days. In the north-east of the country, the Ngorongoro Crater and its wildlife and plant life are a true natural spectacle. In the Gol Mountains, go on safari and meet the Maasai at Lake Natron, then take a dip in the Ngare Sero waterfalls.
Experience a Saharan adventure in Morocco to truly unwind and disconnect from civilisation. On a camel trek, explore the Chegaga dunes. Your journey takes you into the Drâa Valley, with its kasbahs and green oases.
Tempted by a trip to the world’s oldest desert? In Namibia, discover the Namib Desert on foot, a paradise for desert lovers and photographers. Lose yourself among the graceful dunes of Sossusvlei, or explore Etosha National Park in Kunene, a park unlike any other: its salt pans are so vast that they can be seen from space. As you continue your journey of discovery through the semi-arid Kalahari Desert, you will encounter lesser flamingos, greater kudu, springbok antelopes and many other species.

— Of the 6 days in the dessert, 3 were spent enjoying the desert and the dunes. For the other 3 days, it was not pleasant to walk through rocky fields. On the last night, we slept in an unshaded field next to a noisy road.
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry that some of the rockier sections and the last campsite didn’t meet your expectations. It’s true that the desert alternates between dunes and oases, but it also includes rockier stretches that can sometimes be less easy to drive on and monotonous. We trust our partners and guides—who are the most knowledgeable on the ground—to manage each leg of the journey and adapt the route based on conditions, the group’s needs, and skill level, in order to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety. We will pass your comments on to the local teams and hope that, despite everything, you will still have fond memories of your trip.
Best regards,
The Grand Angle Team

— A 12-day trip allows for real immersion: the desert, the staff who accompany you, the weather, the type of accommodation, the meals, the guide's comments (biology, geology, tradition, botany, economy, history…).
