Group trekking: adventure led by our experts

Choosing a guided holiday means choosing peace of mind and enriching experiences. Since 1983, Grand Angle has been designing itineraries where the expertise of our guides and the group dynamic turn a simple hike into an immersive experience that brings people together. Let us guide you; we take care of everything.

Why choose a guided trek?

The main advantage of a group trek is having a professional guide with you. With in-depth knowledge of the region, your guide looks after your safety, sets the group’s pace and shares their knowledge of local wildlife, plants and culture. It is also an opportunity to share an adventure and build connections with other keen walkers, whether on the trails of our guided hiking holidays in France or in the far reaches of Europe.

How do our group Hiking holidays work?

We deliberately keep our groups small to maintain a friendly atmosphere and allow meaningful conversations. Your guide is your main point of contact throughout the trip, while our advance planning ensures smooth logistics, including accommodation, meals and luggage transfers. Unlike our self-guided holidays, where you travel independently with route notes, our guided holidays give you complete peace of mind so you can focus on what matters: walking, sharing experiences and discovering new places.

Set off on a group trek to the 4 corners of Europe (and beyond!)

While this selection showcases our most popular guided treks and hiking holidays, our expertise extends to the 4 corners of Europe. Our first-hand knowledge allows us to offer distinctive routes through regions we are particularly fond of. Treks in the Alps are at the heart of what we do, with classic routes in the Northern Alps, the Mont Blanc massif, Chartreuse, Vercors and the Southern Alps, including the Écrins and Ubaye, as well as Corsica and its famous GR20. Italy is another favourite destination, particularly for our treks in the Dolomites, with their distinctive landscapes. Finally, our tours in Greece take you along the trails of the Cyclades or to discover the treasures of the Peloponnese, where history meets nature.

And if you would like a change of perspective, we also offer self-guided treks, cycling holidays to explore these regions at a different pace, or snowshoeing holidays and Nordic ski touring holidays to immerse yourself in snowy landscapes.

Practical tips for your group hiking holiday

When should you go trekking with Grand Angle?

This year, 2026, or next year, 2027!

Spring and autumn are ideal seasons for hiking, with mild temperatures and beautiful light, particularly in May and September. Summer is the preferred season for high-altitude treks, while a winter trek can offer a completely different way to experience the mountains in certain sunny destinations. Elsewhere, you will need to head out on snowshoes.

How should you choose your next trek?

Each holiday has detailed trip notes specifying the fitness level required. We recommend choosing a route suited to your regular activity level. To help you make the right choice, our advisers are available to discuss your plans and guide you towards the holiday that suits you. Feel free to contact us for personalised advice or filter holidays directly by difficulty, as with this selection of challenging hiking holidays.

Hiking as a family with a group

Sharing the effort and the discoveries of time spent outdoors is an excellent way to create memories together. Travelling with a guide offers reassurance for parents and a fun, educational experience for children. The pace is adapted, breaks are more frequent and the route is chosen to appeal to all ages. Explore our family nature holidays and, more specifically, our family hiking holidays to find an adventure your whole family will enjoy. Having other children on the trip also gives younger walkers extra motivation.

—  This was one of the best trips of my life!! Physically, the hiking was challenging, but doable, which was what my party was looking for. Every minute of the day, the views were SPECTACULAR!!! Literally breathtaking. Our guide took great care of us and we LOVED our 3 course meals every night in the different, fascinating cities. We also met so many fun and friendly people on the Tour. Loved it all❤️

—  The route is as difficult as stated in the brochure, even dangerous in some sections, but extraordinarily beautiful, all the more so as we had good weather all week. The guide was friendly and attentive whenever one of us ran into difficulty, and the welcome at the refuges was warm. To be done by fit people who aren't prone to vertigo!
